Chromatic Technologies, Inc. (CTI) is a custom special effects inks and coatings manufacturer. For close to two decades, we have embraced innovation and recognized our customers’ desire for new interactive ink technologies. The special effect inks we offer include thermochromic (temperature sensitive), photochromic (UV light/sunlight sensitive), glow in the dark, and color-shifting (shifts color when viewed at different angles).

Our customers are organizations (printers and brands) that are not satisfied with traditional print media. CTI’s expertise lies in creating innovative print solutions that generate consumer excitement and support brand messages. Consistently, our customers’ projects are recognized by leading graphics arts and marketing organizations as the most innovative print media in their respective fields. Our inks have been used for many successful projects including: food/beverage labels and cans (hot and cold sensitive), authenticity applications for checks, business forms, RX pads, and promotional print media including magazine inserts, specialized packaging, and t-shirts.

CTI inks are used as spot-colors in traditional offset, flexographic, gravure, and silkscreen printing processes. Most recently, we have had an overwhelming interest and success in the development of our thermochromic metal decorating ink for use in two piece and now in three piece can printing. This ink is used as an indicator to let consumers know when their beverage is chilled to the perfect drinking temperature or as a warning when an aerosol can has gotten too hot.

We hold the patent (U.S. Pat. No. 5,591,255) on thermochromic offset printing technology and we have patents pending in some 20 foreign countries. Our experience in the specialty ink industry and our unique products have positioned us as the global leader in this ink industry.
